MEET THE TEAM


Colin Wainer (CEO)

After qualifying as a Professional Technologist-Engineer at the Technikon Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1970, Colin started his career with Philips as a technician in the CCTV and Broadcast Video Division. He attained the position of Divisional Sales Manager for the broadcast division. In 1981, he joined Protea Technology as Divisional and Product Manager. This position was held until 1996 when he joined Inala Technology Investments as Managing Director of Broadcast Visions.

Antony Bijsters (Consulting Engineer)

Antony completed his T4 Electrical Engineering (Light Current) at Technikon Witwatersrand. He joined the SABC as trainee technician in 1984 where he gained technical experience in Radio production, Television production and transmission. He joined Specitec in 1989 as technician, focusing on the range of equipment manufactured by the Dynatech Broadcast group of companies, which included NewStar, ColourGraphics and da Vinci Systems. A division: Professional Video Products was formed to manage these products when SABC purchased a NewStar news automation system in 1992. Antony was responsible for the implementation and support of the NewStar system, and received extensive training, which included IT systems. This news system is in daily use and the service contract is still current. In 1996 Specitec joined the Inala group of companies and the Professional Products Division was merged with Inala Broadcast.

Anton van Staden
(Consulting Engineer)

Anton joined the SABC in 1984 and completed his T4 Electrical Engineering (Light Current) through the Technikon Witwatersrand. He is registered as a Technician with the Engineering Council of South Africa. During his career, Anton has worked in the capacity of Senior Technician at SABC on their Video Editing systems. He was also appointed to the position of Technology Supervisor: Video Editing, Graphics and Titles while at the SABC. In 1997, Anton left the SABC to run his own business providing a technical support service to broadcast companies, including SABC’s Outside Broadcasting Unit (Airtime). Anton joined Inala Broadcast in 1999.

Julian Ankiah
(Project Engineer)

Julian joined the SABC in 2002, after completing his S4 in Electronic Engineering at Technikon Natal. In 2005 he completed his Bachelor of Technology degree (Electronic Engineering) at the University of Johannesburg. He is registered as an Engineering Technologist with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa). He was awarded the IPET (Institute of Professional Engineering Technologist) 2005 Gold Medal, for best Btech student (across all engineering disciplines) in the University of Johannesburg.

During his employment at the SABC, he worked for engineering services has a Senior Technician / Technical Consultant. His work involved project roll-out, from project scope definition, project management, design and commissioning of broadcast facilities. His projects varied across OB vehicles, TV Studios, Radio Studios and 
Non linear Edit facilities. He was also part of the team that commissioned the first HD Outside Broadcast Trailer in Africa. Julian joined Inala Broadcasts in 2006.

Melodie Gowland
(Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator)

Melodie is employed as Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator. She is responsible for the processing of orders, shipments, and deliveries to Inala Broadcast customers. Her work also includes the marketing functions of the company, such as the compilation of Editorials and Advertisements for publication, launches, functions and exhibitions. Melodie has done extensive work in the marketing and advertising field, managed her own company before selling her business, and joined Inala Broadcast in 2005.

Viwe Gantsho (Support Engineer)

Viwe is employed as Support Engineer dedicated to servicing and supporting the Inala Broadcast portfolio of products. Viwe experience has been working at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Outside Broadcast department, as a service and support technician. Through this medium he has gained an extensive experience in the broadcasting industry in the operation of broadcast facilities with first hand service and support experience of broadcast equipment in live situations. Viwe joined Inala Broadcast in 2008
